A thought on creationism

Reading the “creationist freakout” about Pope Francis’ recent comments on evolution and the Big Bang, I can’t help but wonder why so many people think that a created universe and modern science are mutually exclusive. If the Catholic Church thought that way, they wouldn’t have their own SETI program looking for intelligent life so they can convert it to Christianity. I don’t get why people can’t get over “the Bible says something different!”

Last time a small child asked “where do babies come from?” what was your response? Did you go into the graphic details of intercourse, coitus, fertilization and so on? Or did you present a far more simple rendition the child was more likely to comprehend.

Now do you think a god when asked would want to go into the finer points of quantum mechanics or string theory over a thousand years before humans understood calculus?
